When a technical CV template works best
In technical hiring, one of the first questions is whether you know the tools the team uses. These designs answer it early: Manchester opens with a skills grid, Leeds gives your tools a panel of their own, and Tech has a dark, code-style header.
Keep the experience section about outcomes, not just technologies: what you built, what it changed and who used it.
Group your skills
Languages, frameworks, cloud and tools, in a short grid or list. Put the ones from the job advert first.
Show results, not just tools
Uptime, speed, users, cost saved or bugs fixed. A number makes a technical bullet point stick.
Link to your work
A GitHub profile or portfolio link in your contact details lets employers see your code.
Keep certifications current
Cloud and security certifications date quickly. List the ones that are still valid, with the year.
IT and technical CV templates: your questions
What is the best CV template for a software developer?
One that puts your skills where a recruiter looks first and keeps the rest simple. Manchester opens with a skills grid in one column, which also suits applicant tracking systems.
Should I list every technology I have used?
No. List the ones you could talk about confidently in an interview, starting with those in the job advert.
Does a technical CV need a projects section?
If you are early in your career or moving into tech, yes. Two or three projects, with what you built and the tools you used, show what you can do.
