How to use a skills list

A list tells you what to cover. Your CV still has to prove it.

  1. 1

    Start with the essentials

Make sure the must-have skills for your role are easy to spot, near the top and in the words the job ad uses.

  2. 2

    Back each one up

A skill listed on its own is easy to skim past. Show it at work in your experience, ideally with a result or a number.

  3. 3

Leave out what you can't show

Only list skills you could talk about in an interview. A shorter, honest list reads better than a long one.

Know the skills? Now show them

Check your CV free to see how well it matches the role you want, then build or fix it with the guided editor before you apply. No card needed.
