Developer hiring in the UK often starts with a recruiter or an applicant tracking system checking your CV against a list of technologies, and then an engineer reading it properly. Your CV has to work for both: the right keywords where they are easy to find, and evidence of what you built and why it mattered.
Keep it to two pages, link your GitHub or portfolio, and give each role a line on the product and the stack.
Whatever the job, the UK CV format applies: your name and contact details, a short profile, experience with the most recent first, then education and skills. No photo, age or date of birth.
Languages, frameworks, databases, cloud and tooling, with the ones in the advert first. Only list what you could discuss in an interview.
Your level, what you build (web apps, APIs, data pipelines, mobile) and the kind of team you work best in.
The product and its users, what you built or changed, and what happened: faster, more reliable, cheaper, shipped sooner. Mention code review, testing and CI/CD.
For juniors and career changers: two or three projects with the stack, a link and what they do.
Degree, bootcamp or self-taught route, and current certifications such as AWS or Azure with the year.
GitHub, portfolio or a live app. Pin your best repositories and give each a short README.

Lead with projects: two or three things you built, with the stack, a link and what they do. Add your degree, bootcamp or self-taught learning, and any work that shows teamwork or problem solving.
It is not required, but it helps, especially early in your career. Pin your best repositories and make sure each has a short README that explains what it does.
